Teenagers Injured After Risky Train Hopping Stunt in Kazakhstan
Two teenagers in Kazakhstan have suffered injuries after engaging in a perilous activity of climbing and jumping between moving train cars. The incident highlights the extreme risks associated with unauthorized access to railway transport.
A Dangerous Game Turns Serious
The alarming event occurred on April 11 in the Tselinograd district of the Akmola region, along the Astana-Atbasar railway line. Two young students from Astana had boarded a freight train and were reportedly jumping between the carriages, treating it as a game. Their dangerous pastime nearly cost them their lives.
Train Crew Intervenes
The train's machinist noticed the individuals on the wagons and was forced to make an emergency stop. Realizing the gravity of the situation and the danger posed to the youths, the machinist immediately alerted the station duty officer and the transport police.
Police Respond, Injuries Occur
Upon arrival at the scene, police officers identified the individuals as two minors, aged 14 and 16. They had illegally boarded the train and were clinging to the carriages. As officers attempted to get the teenagers off the train, one of them fell while trying to escape, sustaining a fractured left shoulder. The second teenager injured his leg. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Investigation Underway
Authorities are currently investigating the full circumstances of the incident. This includes how the teenagers gained access to the train cars and whether the train was in motion at the time. Their attempts to evade police are also being examined. Police have issued a stern warning about the life-threatening nature of such actions and vowed to crack down on all forms of 'train surfing' or 'zatsyeping'.
Parental Responsibility
The parents of the minors have been brought in and will face administrative charges for failing to ensure their children's safety and for the violation of railway transport regulations.
