Top Manager's Salary Doubles at Ex-Premier's Nephew's Sanatorium

The general director of the "Sanatorium "Atyrau" in Atyrau, Venera Utegalieva, received a significant salary increase in 2024, earning 9.2 million tenge. This figure represents a substantial jump from previous years, nearly doubling her income.

Financial Performance of the Sanatorium

The "Sanatorium "Atyrau" reported strong financial results for 2024, with revenues reaching 339.4 million tenge, an increase of 217.9 million tenge compared to 2023. Profits also saw a dramatic rise, growing from 18.1 million tenge to 96.2 million tenge. However, the company concluded 2024 with 100.1 million tenge in unclosed expenses.

Ownership Changes and Family Ties

In February 2026, Marat Balgymbaev joined the list of shareholders for the sanatorium. He is the nephew of the late Nurlan Balgymbaev, who served as Prime Minister of Kazakhstan from 1997 to 1999 and held key positions in the oil and gas sector, including heading KazMunayGas. While Marat Balgymbaev's exact shareholding percentage is not yet disclosed, his entry marks a shift in the ownership structure, which previously saw "DAN-Is-Service" as the sole major shareholder.

The ownership of "DAN-Is-Service" is currently held by Kuanyshkhali Toleugaliev, Sarsenbai Murinov, and Marat Balgymbaev.

Nurlan Balgymbaev's son, Toleugen Balgymbaev, was recognized in 2024 by Forbes as one of Kazakhstan's wealthiest individuals, ranking 75th with an estimated fortune of $63 million. He holds interests in various companies, including "KaspiyMetall," "Consortium Isker," and West Dala, and manages "West Oil," "Alma East West Group," and AMS-Real Estate.
