The legendary Aidabul distillery, located in the village of Aidabol in the Akmola Region, has managed to overcome a crisis and close 2025 with a net profit of 108.2 million tenge, compared to a loss of 372.3 million tenge the previous year, reports infohub.kz.

The enterprise, which dates back to 1908, specializes in the production and sale of rectified alcohol, carbon dioxide, and ether-aldehyde fraction.

In December 2021, the plant was on the verge of closure: production was halted, and the 200-strong workforce was laid off. From May 11 to September 24, 2021, the plant stood idle due to a lack of sales markets. After a brief resumption on September 24, operations were again suspended indefinitely on October 18. At that time, 60 employees were retained for heating and administrative tasks, while 139 were sent on leave with 50% pay. The founders announced a temporary mothballing of the main production, citing rising fuel and grain costs, which had eroded profitability.

However, in November 2022, thanks to public outcry and government support, the plant resumed operations, providing employment for over 20% of the village's population, and salaries were doubled.

In 2025, the plant showed impressive growth: revenue from product sales increased by nearly 68%, from 2.2 billion to 3.69 billion tenge. The cost of sales rose from 2.4 billion to 3.17 billion tenge, resulting in a gross profit of 522.6 million tenge (compared to a gross loss of 200.2 million tenge in 2024). Other income amounted to 177.3 million tenge, selling expenses were 42 million tenge, and administrative costs increased from 297.1 million to 469 million tenge. As a result, the enterprise turned a profit and recorded net income.

The improvement in financial performance coincided with a change in the main shareholder. On December 12, 2025, SK-Promtrans, owned by Kanatbek Tashenov, sold its stake of 1,103,464 common shares (99.6% of the total) to the private company North Agro Ltd. The remaining 0.4% of shares (4,911 preferred shares) continue to be held by individuals. North Agro Ltd., registered in the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), is owned by the holding Prime Group Ltd, behind which stands entrepreneur Aidyn Kabdrakhman.
