Air Astana has opened direct air service between Kazakhstan and Salalah, a popular resort city in the Sultanate of Oman. The flights operate from two Kazakh cities, the Civil Aviation Committee said, according to infohub.kz.

The committee said in its Telegram channel that a new international route, Astana — Salalah, was launched on October 24. The aircraft carried 140 passengers, meaning it was fully loaded. Flights on the route will be operated with Airbus A320 aircraft.

A day earlier, on October 23, the first flight from Almaty to Salalah took place, and that aircraft was also completely full.

“Air service between Kazakhstan and Oman is currently also provided on the Almaty — Muscat route by SalamAir. Thus, the Kazakh carrier has expanded its international route network with two new destinations to the Sultanate of Oman at once. The launch of the new air routes will help develop tourism, trade, economic and cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Oman, as well as expand travel opportunities for citizens,” the Civil Aviation Committee said.
