Trading volume on the Astana International Exchange (AIX) reached $560 million in September 2026, marking a new all-time high in the history of the Astana stock exchange, according to infohub.kz.

"During the reporting period [the third quarter of 2026], the exchange continued to demonstrate strong growth rates: trading volume exceeded $1.9 billion, up 70% compared to the same period in 2025. In September alone, monthly trading volume surpassed $560 million (250.2 billion tenge), setting a new all-time high for AIX and exceeding the previous record by $150 million," the statement said.

In the third quarter of 2026, AIX saw new issues of debt instruments in four currencies – US dollars, Kazakhstani tenge, UAE dirhams, and Chinese yuan – and also launched trading in voluntary carbon units.

"We continue to see sustained demand in our key markets while advancing the development of yuan-denominated instruments, cross-border activity, and new products, including environmental assets. At the same time, we continued to expand international cooperation through partnerships with leading exchanges and market institutions," said Asel Mukazhanova, Chair of the AIX Management Board.

As of September 30, 2026, the exchange's official list includes 436 securities from 210 issuers, with 126 instruments from 77 issuers listed in the third quarter alone.

Capital raised (debt and equity) on the exchange has totaled $17.4 billion since its founding, including $6 billion in the first nine months of 2026. More than 2.4 million retail investor accounts have been opened at AIX CSD through AIX member brokers.

AIX was established in 2017 as part of the development of the Astana International Financial Centre. Its shareholders include the AIFC, the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the Silk Road Fund, and NASDAQ, which also provides the AIX trading platform.

The exchange operates within a regulatory framework based on English law principles, thereby ensuring reliable conditions for investment activity.
