A resident of the Akmola region has lost 10 million tenge in an attempt to buy an apartment in the capital, reports infohub.kz.
According to police, several years ago an acquaintance offered the woman to buy an apartment in Astana, which was allegedly under arrest. The fraudster claimed that the property registration would take time and require additional expenses.
Starting in 2022, the victim repeatedly handed over money to the acquaintance. The suspect explained that the funds were needed for various fees, services, and organizational matters.
Over several years, the total amount transferred reached about 10 million tenge. However, the promised apartment was never purchased, and the victim was unable to get her money back.
After waiting in vain, the woman turned to the police. A criminal case has been opened on charges of fraud. Investigative measures are currently underway to establish all circumstances of the incident.
