A resident of the Akmola region who tried to obtain a driver's license without going through the required procedures ended up losing his money and turning to the police, reports infohub.kz.
According to the regional police department's press service, another case of fraud involving the promise of illegal assistance in obtaining a driver's license is being investigated in the Akmola region.
"As practice shows, fraudsters often exploit citizens' desire to get a license without queues, training, and passing the mandatory exams. For a certain sum, they promise to 'take care of it,' but after receiving the money, they stop answering calls or fail to deliver on their promises," the Akmola region police department noted.
The latest victim of such a scheme was a 26-year-old resident of the village of Zhaltyr in the Astrakhan district. In April of this year, the young man agreed with a man he barely knew to help him obtain a driver's license. For his 'services,' the man received about 168,000 tenge.
However, the promised result never came. After several months, the man had neither a driver's license nor his money back. He then went to the police.
A pre-trial investigation into the fraud is underway.
