A 9-year-old boy who was hospitalized in intensive care after food poisoning has died in Aktau. The child's relatives reported his death, according to Lada.kz, as reported by infohub.kz.

According to the family, the boy died in intensive care yesterday, October 6. When asked about the immediate cause of death, the relatives suggested it could be linked to poisoning from smoked fish, after consuming which the child was hospitalized.

The condition of the child's father, who was also hospitalized, has stabilized, relatives said. Two other adult family members are receiving treatment at the regional multidisciplinary hospital.

The publication sent a request to the Mangystau Region Health Department to obtain information about the cause of the child's death and the circumstances that led to the poisoning.

Recall that earlier it was reported that in the Mangystau Region, after a family gathering, three adults and a child — residents of the Munaily District — were hospitalized in intensive care with signs of botulism.

The suspected product is cold-smoked fish prepared at home. All the victims consumed it during a family event on September 17, and the first signs of illness appeared on the evening of September 18. The patients sought medical help on September 19.

It was later reported that the boy remained in intensive care at the multidisciplinary children's hospital in Aktau. Doctors assessed his condition as serious and continued treatment.
