A court in the Mangystau region has delivered its verdict in the case of the death of 52-year-old Aslan Kydyrbayev, a father of five. Three men stood trial on charges of murder (Article 99 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan), reports infohub.kz.
According to Lada.kz, one of the defendants was sentenced to eight years in prison. The other two received three-year suspended sentences and were released from the courtroom. The verdict has not yet entered into force.
The tragedy occurred on December 2, 2025. Four men went on a nighttime hunt in the Temir-baba area of the Karakiyan district. After a shot, Aslan Kydyrbayev died. Initially, police reported an accident due to careless handling of a weapon, but the victim's relatives disagreed with this version. They claim that the men transported the body in the back of a pickup truck for about nine hours without seeking help.
The family says that instead of taking Aslan to the hospital in Zhanaozen, about 100 kilometers from the scene, they drove him to Aktau, about 300 kilometers away. Relatives also do not believe the story that the weapon allegedly sank in the water.
The prosecution had asked for a 17-year prison sentence for the main defendant and 15 years for the other two. "We do not agree, we are against this verdict! How could they be released right from the courtroom? This is absolutely unfair," said the victim's wife, Zhanar Yespayeva. The family intends to appeal the decision and conduct an independent re-examination. Aslan Kydyrbayev is survived by five children.
