Residents of a two-story building in the Aktobe region are raising the alarm: their home is literally falling apart at the seams, and they fear that one day they could end up under the rubble. Local authorities have already responded to the complaints, reports infohub.kz.
According to the residents, the structure, designed for four families, has visually split into two halves due to cracks that are appearing right before their eyes. For example, 72-year-old Asylzhan Kurazova shows new fractures on the facade, one of which, she says, seems to cut the house in two.
“He came and said that these walls would be pulled together with a wire. But just look at the gaps! And bricks in between. I can't even imagine how they'll pull it all together. The biggest fear? That it will fall apart, that it will collapse on her head someday. I can't take her to the city because her health isn't good there,” shared the pensioner's daughter, Roza Kurazova.
Relatives are urging Asylzhan to move in with her daughter, but for the woman, this house is not just square meters: she has lived here for almost 30 years. However, staying here is becoming more dangerous every day. Just a few meters from the building runs a railway, with trains thundering right under the windows. Residents are convinced that the constant vibration has caused the cracks, and they continue to grow. People fear that one day the house may collapse.
The two-story building has only four apartments. Asylzhan's neighbors are temporary residents placed there by the akimat while their housing issue is being resolved. Officials, in turn, do not deny that the building does require repairs, and they are ready to consider options. “We have an expert conclusion on hand; the house has not been declared dilapidated. A recommendation was made for major repairs. We need to prepare design and estimate documentation. We have requested funds for that. But they haven't been allocated yet. We will continue to ask for funding for the repairs themselves,” noted Aidos Kalimagambetov, head of the housing and utilities department of the Martuk district akimat.
