In Aktobe, a 27-year-old resident of the village of Bestamak gave birth to her third child right in a taxi on the way to the maternity hospital. The boy, weighing 3.5 kilograms, arrived before the woman could reach the hospital, but the delivery went smoothly, the website infohub.kz reports.
The mother, Nazerke Galimova, said she was a little frightened because she had not expected such a quick birth. But the taxi driver was even more frightened when he suddenly heard the newborn crying.
Nazerke calmed the man down and called an ambulance herself. The medics arrived within minutes and took the mother and baby to the maternity hospital.
They were discharged today, and the parents are now choosing a name for the baby. The family already has two boys, who, incidentally, were also present at the discharge of the youngest. The new mother is grateful to the taxi driver and the ambulance paramedics for their help and humanity.
“The crew arrived at the scene in 6-7 minutes and examined the woman in the car. The umbilical cord was cut there, and the necessary medication was administered. After that they were taken to the nearest hospital. In my practice, this is the first case of a child being born in a taxi, while births at home happen more often,” said Roman Mergenuly, a paramedic at the ambulance station.
