An Almaty resident has voiced outrage over roadworks that have made the journey to school far more difficult. The city akimat has given a timeline for restoring the asphalt surface, the infohub.kz website reports.
Social media user @al_medias complained about roadworks on Grozy Street that have made the trip to school take significantly longer. She shared her frustration on the Threads social network.
"Bravo! Whose brilliant idea was it to start repairs in November? And right after the holidays, too? Today, instead of 20 minutes, it took us almost an hour and a half to get to school!" she wrote.
She also asked why the work is not being carried out in stages, so that repairs are completed on one section before moving on to the next. According to her, the left lane on Grozy Street near Zhandosov has been dug up, but work on that section has not been completed.
"What is this excavation? On Grozy-Zhandosov they also dug up the left lane and abandoned it! How long is this going to last now?" the author of the post fumed.
The akimat responded to the complaint.
"As part of the implementation of the 'Tausamaly Phase I' project, the contractor is carrying out construction and installation work on Grozy Street to lay water supply and wastewater engineering networks. To ensure road safety, the necessary fencing and road signs have been installed at the work sites," the statement said.
The akimat assured that once the construction and installation work is completed, the asphalt surface will be restored by the end of November this year.
