Almaty plans to create a Kazakfilm park with an amphitheater for open-air film screenings. The city akimat announced the plans for the new public space, according to infohub.kz.
The new cinema park is envisioned as a public space dedicated to the history of national cinema. It will be located at the intersection of culture and urban life. The park is intended to become a modern place for strolling, relaxation, and learning about domestic cinematography.
"The project plans thematic zones, walking alleys, interactive and multimedia installations, a children's space, and recreation areas," the akimat of the southern capital said.
The history of Kazakh cinema is proposed to be told in a modern format. Visitors will be able to learn about the development of the domestic film industry, iconic films, and the country's cultural heritage.
The park will host film screenings, themed meetings, and cultural events.
"If the project is implemented, Almaty will have a new place where the history of Kazakh cinema will be presented in an interesting, accessible, and modern way," the city administration concluded.
The project and estimate documentation is being developed by ENVICON-A LLP, which also created the improvement project for the Panfilov pedestrian street and Arbat. The contractor selected for the work is Seven Stroi Development LLP. The founder is listed as Yerik Utepov, who is also associated with several Kazakh companies registered in Almaty.
The exact cost of the project has not yet been announced, as the documentation is still being revised. The park is planned to be implemented through private investment, but an investor has not yet been found.
Earlier, Kursiv wrote that to protect residents of neighboring buildings from the noise of the open-air cinema, the park area will be divided into zones and planted with trees. Food courts and retail outlets are also promised to be installed in the park.
