A man suspected of raping his mother-in-law has been detained in Almaty. The city's police department released footage of the arrest, as reported by infohub.kz.
Earlier, social media claimed that a resident of Almaty had committed violent acts against a relative born in 1961. It was also alleged that the police had failed to provide proper authorization for an examination.
The Almaty Police Department refuted these claims. Official representative Saltanat Azirbek stated that the suspect has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. A criminal case has been opened, and a pre-trial investigation is underway.
"Social media is spreading information that does not correspond to reality regarding the circumstances of the investigation into the criminal case of the rape of a woman. In this case, the police department of the Auezov district has opened a criminal case, the suspect has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. A pre-trial investigation is being conducted. Information about allegedly improper conduct of the investigation does not correspond to reality. The suspect's actions will be given a principled, objective legal assessment. If guilt is established, he will be punished in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the DP press service quoted Azirbek as saying.
The police also noted that the issue of bringing the author of the false information to responsibility is being considered.
