Almaty's Culture Department has posted several lots on the state procurement portal related to preparing the metropolis for the New Year 2027 celebrations. The contracts total 512.3 million tenge, the website infohub.kz reports.
The largest lot, worth 288,706,206 tenge, was posted by the Almaty әуендері state municipal enterprise under the Almaty Culture Department. Bidding opened on November 3 and will close on November 10. The documentation combines several requests for festive city decorations.
In Abai Square, a New Year tree is to be installed which, according to the technical specifications, must be a "visually striking, safe and technologically advanced structure that creates a festive atmosphere in the square." The structure will be at least 13 meters tall with an 8-meter base diameter. The tree will have three tiers, one of which must rotate. The frame will be made of metal, the foliage will be artificial, and the tree will be decorated with a garland, ornamental baubles and a lighted star on top.
Besides the tree, Abai Square will feature themed New Year installations: "Bag of Sweets," "Mirror Gift," a light composition called "Sweet Alley" — which will include a bear figure in a hat and 10 candy-cane lollipops — as well as "Gramophone" and "Telephone Booth." The facade canopy of the Palace of the Republic will be decorated separately, with light garlands installed along its perimeter and outline. The square will also host retail kiosks and small architectural forms: "Suitcases," "Retro Telephone," "Hot Air Balloon" and "Radio Receiver."
Another document covers the installation in Abai Square of an arch at least 4.7 meters tall featuring a "Starry Sky," along with small architectural forms in the shape of bears, candles, toys, candies and other elements.
Another lot from Almaty әуендері provides for organizing and holding a New Year concert program in Abai Square over three days. The program includes performances by popular pop stars, a dance ensemble, a children's creative group and a New Year stage production. "The goal of the event is to create a festive mood for residents and guests of the city, to establish a celebratory atmosphere for welcoming the New Year in Abai Square, and to offer a free cultural program for family recreation," the documentation says. The same lot includes decorative stage design. Potential contractors must submit bids by November 11; the lot is worth 138,880,000 tenge.
A third lot, worth 84,800,000 tenge, covers services for decorating streets with light brackets as part of the events marking the New Year 2027 celebrations. The open tender for it will run until November 13.
