Police in the Enbekshikazakh district of the Almaty region, coordinating with prosecutors, have shut down an underground laboratory producing psychotropic substances, infohub.kz reports.
Colonel Toleu Markhamedov, head of the Enbekshikazakh district police department, said that during operational-search activities, a specially equipped facility was discovered on the territory of a dacha community.
"During investigative actions, more than 60 canisters containing chemicals and precursors, laboratory equipment and other devices were seized," Colonel Markhamedov stated.
According to an expert conclusion, the seized items included the psychotropic substance a-PVP weighing 388.97 grams. Preliminary estimates suggest this is equivalent to approximately 2,000 single doses.
"A 31-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of organizing illegal production. A court has authorized his detention as a preventive measure," Colonel Markhamedov added.
Authorities are currently identifying the sources of procurement of precursors and equipment, possible financing channels, and other individuals involved in the illegal activity.
