A court in Kazakhstan's Almaty Region has handed a man a 10-day administrative arrest for firing a noise gun into the air outside a restaurant, turning down his own request for a fine, infohub.kz reports.
The case was heard by the Karasai specialized inter-district court for administrative offenses under Part 1 of Article 434 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (petty hooliganism), according to the Almaty Region courts' official Telegram channel.
According to case materials, at around 11:00 p.m. on October 18, 2026, the man repeatedly fired a noise weapon into the air in a public area in front of a restaurant in the village of Zhibek Zholy, disturbing public order and the peace of residents.
At the hearing, the offender fully admitted his guilt and asked the court to impose an alternative penalty — a fine.
Part 1 of Article 434 provides for a fine of 20 monthly calculation indices, community service, or administrative arrest of five to 10 days.
In deciding the penalty, the court took into account the nature of the offense and the circumstances in which it was committed, in particular that it was carried out at night in a public place. The court therefore deemed it justified to impose administrative arrest rather than a fine.
The court found the man guilty and sentenced him to 10 days' arrest.
The ruling has not yet entered into legal force.
