This coming Sunday, August 16, Almaty will introduce temporary traffic restrictions on key city thoroughfares due to the Gran Fondo World Championship for amateur and veteran cyclists, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Almaty city administration, about a thousand athletes from over 20 countries will take part in the competition. The event will be held on August 16, and to ensure the safety of participants and spectators, traffic patterns will be altered on certain sections of Al-Farabi Avenue and the Eastern Bypass Road (EBR).
From 5:30 a.m. to 6:40 a.m., traffic will be temporarily restricted on Al-Farabi Avenue and the EBR from Dostyk Avenue to Talgar Highway. Additionally, from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., restrictions will apply to Al-Farabi Avenue from Dostyk Avenue to Navoi Street.
The city administration stressed that these measures are being introduced to ensure the safety of race participants and road traffic. Drivers are asked to take the changes into account and plan their routes in advance.
