Almaty recently introduced a 60 km/h speed limit on a section of Sain Street from Ryskulov to Tole Bi. Whether a similar measure will be applied to Al-Farabi Avenue and the BAD, the city police told the website infohub.kz.

Official representative of the Almaty Police Department Saltanat Azirbek at a briefing at the Regional Communications Service explained that on the section of Sain Street from Tole Bi to Ryskulov in both directions, a pilot innovation has been introduced — a speed limit of 60 km/h.

"The question of applying this practice everywhere is not on the table yet. We are testing it on a specific section, taking into account the highest accident rate. An analysis was conducted. To reduce the number of accidents, we are using this method. We do not intend to apply it everywhere until this trial is completed on this section. The speed limit on other sections remains unchanged," said Saltanat Azirbek.

Recall that earlier it was reported that the speed limit was reduced on one section of Sain Street. The department also clarified that after redistributing the width of existing lanes, four traffic lanes were organized.
