A conflict between a worker demolishing a building and a local resident in Almaty escalated from a verbal argument into a stabbing, reports infohub.kz.
Almaty Police Department said a suspect was detained in the Bostandyq district on charges of causing grievous bodily harm.
"Emergency services received a report of a knife wound. Medics on scene hospitalized a young man with a chest wound. Meanwhile, patrol unit 'Buran-405' quickly apprehended the suspected attacker. According to preliminary information, there had been a previous conflict between the men. Several days later, another verbal altercation arose and ended with the use of a bladed weapon," the statement said.
It was established that the suspect was part of a team demolishing an old structure, while the victim is a resident of a nearby house. The circumstances and motives of the incident are being investigated.
"A criminal case has been opened on charges of causing grievous bodily harm. The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility. Police are conducting a series of investigative actions, including searching for the alleged weapon," the department clarified.
