Starting August 16, new rules for installing barriers in the courtyards of residential buildings came into force in Almaty. Now, their installation must be coordinated with the district akimat, as reported by infohub.kz.
One of the key requirements is that barriers must open automatically to not impede the passage of special and utility services.
The city's Department of Traffic Organization and Passenger Transport explained that residents can decide to install a barrier only on a land plot that is part of the common property of the condominium. This requires the consent of more than two-thirds of the property owners.
"A unified procedure for installing barriers will ensure unhindered passage for special and utility services. Residents can independently decide to install a barrier only on a land plot that is part of the common property of the condominium. This requires the consent of more than two-thirds of the property owners," the department said.
After the residents' decision, approval from the district akimat is required. If the courtyard is a through passage, firefighters may also be involved in reviewing the issue.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that Almaty also changed the rules for using paid public parking. The city is introducing per-minute tariffs, and residents of apartment buildings will be able to get one free parking spot near their home.
