In Almaty, tree felling has resumed on a section near a new school on Egizbaeva Street. The city administration stated that the work is permitted and provided for by the project, reports infohub.kz.
The felling of trees on Egizbaeva Street was commented on by the Almaty city administration. It was noted that the work is being carried out on the basis of a permit issued by the Almaty Department of Ecology and Environment.
"The felling of trees is carried out legally within the framework of the project for the construction of an access road to the new secondary school on Egizbaeva Street," the statement says.
Earlier, work on part of the site was temporarily suspended. The reason was the procedure for purchasing land plots necessary for the project.
After all necessary procedures were completed, the felling was resumed. Work continues in accordance with the approved project documentation.
"We emphasize that the felling is carried out exclusively within the boundaries of the territory provided for by the construction project," the statement notes.
The city administration noted that for each felled tree, compensatory planting is provided. After planting new green spaces, they must be cared for for three years.
"In accordance with current rules, for each felled tree, mandatory compensatory planting is provided, followed by three years of care for the green spaces," the administration concluded.
