According to sources, the American tech giant intends to use original articles and reports from media outlets to deliver up-to-date news to users through its AI-powered voice assistant. The talks involve signing multi-year licensing agreements with several major media conglomerates.
Apple is offering a flexible payment system, where the compensation for each publication will depend on how often its content is used by the algorithms. Company representatives have already held consultations with a number of potential partners and have allocated a budget with a nine-figure sum for this purpose.
This initiative is linked to the upcoming Siri update planned for this year. Unlike previous versions, the updated assistant will be able to answer queries about current events more accurately. However, the terms of citation and options for linking back to original sources remain under discussion.
