A bid to win attention on social media with risky stunts on the roadway has landed a 25-year-old Toyota driver under administrative arrest in Astana, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to NUR.KZ, citing the Astana Police Department, the young man was detained for dangerous drifting on the road. He performed risky maneuvers, endangering other road users.
"It was established that the man carried out dangerous maneuvers in order to create content for social media and increase view counts, thereby posing a threat to the safety of those around him. Administrative reports were drawn up against the driver for violating maneuvering rules, damaging roads, violating vehicle operation rules, and petty hooliganism," the police statement said.
According to law enforcement, a court ordered the man to serve 10 days of administrative arrest, and his car was sent to a municipal impound lot.
It was previously reported that a driver who staged a drift on a roadway at night was held accountable in Astana.
