Police in the Kazakh capital have detained a 32-year-old man suspected of involvement in drug trafficking. A search yielded more than two kilograms of banned substances, according to infohub.kz.
The arrest was made during the operational and preventive operation "Karasora". According to law enforcement, the man was driving a rented car and was stopped near a residential building.
In his backpack, officers found a plastic bag with a white powdery substance. Expert analysis identified it as alpha-PVP weighing about one kilogram.
A search of the suspect's residence uncovered two more plastic containers in a kitchen cabinet, containing mephedrone and cannabis resin. The total weight of the seized narcotics exceeded two kilograms.
Investigators believe the detainee acted as a so-called warehouse, storing drugs and handing them over to others involved in distribution.
A criminal case has been opened. Police are currently identifying other possible participants in the illegal activity.
Earlier, it was reported that in Almaty, police detained a man suspected of selling synthetic drugs. In his car and hiding places, 170 packages were found, and later in the Almaty region, about two more kilograms of the banned substance were seized. According to preliminary data, the detainee worked for an online drug distribution shop.
