A 33-year-old woman has been detained in Astana on suspicion of serial fraud: according to investigators, she promised parents to place their children in state kindergartens out of turn, infohub.kz reports.

Law enforcement officials said the suspect sought her victims on social media. She left comments under posts about state preschool institutions in the capital.

"The woman gained the parents' trust by promising to place their children in state kindergartens out of turn. She then persuaded them to transfer money to her bank account. The suspect spent the received funds on personal needs," the statement on the Ministry of Internal Affairs' media portal says.

To date, investigators have officially established 10 episodes of her illegal activity. Police are determining the exact amount of damage and checking the detainee's involvement in other similar crimes.

A pre-trial investigation is underway. In this regard, police warned Kazakhstanis: the agency urged citizens to avoid dubious services on social media and to use only official channels for obtaining public services.
