Police in Astana stopped a car driven by a local woman and found a travel bag containing illegal substances in the passenger compartment — the total weight of the seized drugs exceeded one kilogram, the website infohub.kz reports.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs' website, during an operation in Astana, officers stopped a vehicle driven by the suspect.
"A travel bag was found in the passenger compartment, containing 20 packets of a white powdery substance, which is mephedrone," law enforcement officials said.
In addition, during a personal search, a packet of a similar substance was found on the woman. The suspect also pointed out three locations where she had previously left three more packets.
According to an expert examination, the seized substance is mephedrone. A criminal case has been opened. All the discovered substances, with a total weight of more than one kilogram, were seized.
"The storage, transportation, and distribution of narcotic drugs entail criminal liability. Citizens are urged not to stand aside and to report to the police any known facts of illegal drug trafficking," the police reminded.
