Kazakhstan's capital continues its efforts to improve the ecological situation: the residential area "Ondiris" in the Baikonur district will be fully gasified. This will allow residents to stop using coal in the private sector, where about 40,000 people live, reports infohub.kz.
At a meeting of the maslikhat commission, the head of the Astana Energy Department, Adil Kanatov, spoke about the problems and ways to solve them. He stressed that the dense individual development of the area has a destructive impact on the capital's ecosystem in winter. "In the private sector of the Ondiris residential area, heating in winter is mainly provided by coal, which has a negative impact on the environment and contributes to increased emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere in the Baikonur district and the city as a whole. At the same time, the existing central heating system does not have the necessary free capacity at the CHP-1, CHP-2, and CHP-3 sources," said Adil Kanatov.
Connecting the population to the existing radial heating networks in the required volumes is not possible. Given this, comprehensive gasification of the residential area is the only viable solution.
The project plans to create gas distribution infrastructure with the ability to connect 2,120 potential subscribers. The project provides for the construction of gas distribution networks with a total length of about 185 kilometers and a capacity of up to 20,000 cubic meters per hour. The infrastructure will cover about 85 streets of the residential area.
The project is proposed to be implemented on a turnkey basis, where a single contractor performs the entire range of work, from design and equipment procurement to construction and commissioning. "The implementation of the project under this model will ensure unified management of all stages of work, reduce construction time, minimize risks of cost increases, and assign responsibility for achieving the planned project indicators," noted the head of the department.
During the discussion with deputies, it was confirmed that the work is fully financed from budget funds, so there will be no increase in gas tariffs for residents. The work is divided into several stages. This year, it is planned to complete the second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth launch complexes, with the rest moving to the next year. The completion of the gasification of the Ondiris area will allow the capital to reach a 100% gasification rate for the planned residential areas.
