Surveillance cameras in Astana captured a young man shattering the glass of a bus stop shelter before fleeing on a route bus. The offender was identified and held accountable, infohub.kz reports.

According to the Astana Police Department on its Instagram page, the incident occurred at a bus stop on Bogenbai Batyr Avenue. The offender turned out to be a 17-year-old youth.

"It was established that in the evening the teenager was at the bus stop with an acquaintance. As he was leaving, he kicked the glass of the bus stop shelter, shattering it. The teenager and his friend then boarded a route bus and left the scene," police said.

The youth was held administratively liable for petty hooliganism. The case materials have been sent to court.

The Almaty Police Department reminded that damaging bus stop shelters and other urban infrastructure is an offense and entails liability under the law.
