A resident of Astana has reported on the social network Threads about a conflict at one of the capital's nightlife venues. According to her, an unknown man struck her friend in the face with a glass and then punched her in the stomach, reports infohub.kz.
The author of the post claims that the venue's security did not intervene, and when police arrived, instead of helping, they blamed the victim. She says the man was initially taken aside but later managed to leave the bar. Meanwhile, four security guards allegedly blocked the women at the entrance. The police were called by the victims themselves, according to the post.
The woman said that instead of assistance, they faced questions about why they were at a nightclub at all. When she asked why the officer did not side with the women, she reminded him of his mother, wife, or sister. "If needed, my wife will get it too," the officer allegedly replied. The friend, who was in shock, eventually refused to file a complaint and wanted to leave as soon as possible.
The story on Threads was commented on by the police of the capital's Yesil district. "This fact has been registered with the Yesil District Police Department, and an investigation is underway. Based on the results, a legal assessment will be made and appropriate measures will be taken in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the police said. However, the circumstances described in the post have not yet been officially confirmed. The investigation will establish the facts and evaluate the actions of both police and security personnel.
