In the capital of Kazakhstan, two young men are suspected of a series of thefts, including the theft of an expensive smartphone and medicines. The incidents were captured by surveillance cameras, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Astana police department, during operational-search activities, two men aged 19 and 22 were identified as being involved in two episodes of theft. The suspects were identified thanks to CCTV footage.
The first crime occurred on the premises of a car service center located on Alikhan Bokeikhan Street. The young men, taking advantage of free access, secretly stole an iPhone 15 Pro Max belonging to one of the clients. After reviewing camera footage, operatives quickly identified the suspects and detained them.
During further investigation, it was found that the detainees may be involved in a similar crime committed earlier. In particular, their involvement in the theft of medicines from a pharmacy located on Kabanbay Batyr Avenue was established.
Currently, both suspects have been placed in a temporary detention facility of the Astana police department. A pre-trial investigation is underway regarding these facts.
