A criminal case has been opened in Atyrau Region over the death of Bauyrzhan Asainov, who headed the regional department of the Committee for Regulation and Control in the Sphere of Social Protection of the Population, the website infohub.kz reports.
News of Bauyrzhan Asainov's death was published on the Instagram page of the department of the Committee for Regulation and Control in the Sphere of Social Protection of the Population for Atyrau Region.
"While holding a position of responsibility, Bauyrzhan Adylkhanovich devoted his efforts to carrying out the tasks entrusted to him. (...) His sudden death is an irreparable loss for his colleagues and loved ones," the post reads.
According to Ak Zhaiyk, citing sources, the official was found dead on October 18 in the apartment where he lived. It is believed that the body had been there for about two weeks by the time it was discovered.
An NUR.KZ correspondent asked the press service of the Atyrau Region Police Department for comment.
"A criminal case has been opened over this fact, and a set of investigative measures is under way. No other information will be disclosed in the interests of the investigation," the regional police department said.
