Meteorologists have presented their forecast for August 2026: the south and west of the country are expected to see mostly hot weather, while the northern half will experience moderate heat with refreshing rains and thunderstorms, according to infohub.kz.
In the first decade of August, weather across most of the republic will be unstable due to an active northwestern cyclone and atmospheric fronts. Meteorologists forecast thunderstorm rains, squally winds, and local hail. Heavy rains are likely in the north, center, east, and in the mountainous and piedmont areas of the southeast in the middle of the period.
At the same time, in the west and center of the country, a brief cessation of precipitation is expected from the middle of the first decade.
In the first decade, daytime temperatures in the west and northwest of Kazakhstan will gradually rise from 25–35°C to 34–39°C. In the south of Atyrau Region, thermometers may hit 41°C, and in Mangystau Region, temperatures will range from 35–40°C to 39–44°C.
In the north of the republic and in Kostanay Region, daytime temperatures are expected to drop from 25–35°C to 20–28°C, but by the end of the decade heat will return with highs of 30–38°C. In the south, the drop in heat will be more significant: from 39–44°C down to 29–36°C.
In the center and east of the country, conditions will alternate between strong heat of 33–41°C and moderately warm weather of 22–31°C. In the southeast, temperatures will fluctuate from 34–39°C (up to 42°C in Zhambyl Region) to 27–35°C.
In the second and third decades of August, in the northern half of the republic, nighttime temperatures will range from 3–8°C to 10–18°C, and daytime from 17–25°C to 25–35°C.
In the west and southern half of the country, nights will see temperatures from 17–27°C to 13–18°C, and days from 32–42°C to 25–35°C.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that on August 1, storm warnings were issued in many regions of Kazakhstan, with expectations of thunderstorms, hail, squally winds, dust storms, and severe heat up to 44°C.
