President of Bangladesh Mohammad Shahabuddin has resigned, saying he is ill and no longer wishes to lead the country, reports infohub.kz.

What's the point of hearing it from me? I'm ill, I've had enough." When asked if he had signed the relevant document, the politician noted: "I've already said everything. The rest you can figure out for yourselves."
Mohammad Shahabuddin, a former judge, was elected president of Bangladesh on February 13, 2023, as a candidate from the ruling Bangladesh Awami League, and took office on April 24 of the same year. Under the country's laws, the president is elected by parliament for a five-year term with the possibility of one re-election.
