Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has issued instructions to the Ministry of Industry and Construction and to regional akimats over the condition of roads across the country, infohub.kz reports.
According to the government's Telegram channel, the head of the cabinet called on the Ministry of Industry and akimats to tighten oversight of roads in the regions.
"The President has repeatedly raised the issue of modernizing infrastructure in the regions, and especially the quality of roads. The National Center for Road Asset Quality is allocating the necessary funds. Local authorities need to strengthen control over how these funds are spent. Roads within the country and those of international importance must meet all quality standards. The akimat must oversee the work on its own territory. Most citizens' complaints concern internal roads. Take this under strict control," Olzhas Bektenov said.
It is noted that construction, reconstruction and repair work this year covers more than 11,000 km of roads in Kazakhstan. Over the past 7 years, a total of 36,300 km of roads have been built and repaired in the country.
