Belarus and Uzbekistan have agreed to expand economic cooperation. Under the new arrangements, Minsk will increase exports of meat and dairy products to Tashkent and attract Uzbek workers to develop its agricultural sector, according to inbusiness.kz.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced the deal, as quoted by the state news agency BelTA.
Lukashenko said his Uzbek counterpart, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has pledged to invest in building livestock farms, feed storage facilities and agricultural processing plants in Belarus.
"They will come, produce meat and milk here. The president of Uzbekistan is providing money for investments – for building livestock complexes, silage trenches, processing facilities. He is investing and providing people who will work and earn here," Lukashenko said.
He also stressed that Belarus intends to create necessary conditions for Uzbek workers, including social guarantees such as housing, access to healthcare and education.
