Personal belongings of French actress Brigitte Bardot, put up for auction in Paris, brought in nearly €1 million, while the pre-sale estimate for the lots was around €50,000. The news was reported by infohub.kz.

Auction house Millon offered 285 items from the actress's Paris home and her residence in Saint-Tropez. Among the lots were clothing, accessories, dishes, furniture and other personal belongings of Bardot. About 3,000 buyers from France and other countries registered to take part in the bidding.

"Brigitte Bardot once again proved herself an outstanding alchemist: she turned lots estimated at around €50,000 into a sum reaching nearly €1 million including commission fees," auctioneer Alexandre Millon said.

Among the items that most exceeded their initial estimates were two dog collars that had belonged to the actress's pets. With a starting estimate of €30 for the pair, they sold for €9,400. The tags attached to the collars bore Bardot's name and her phone number. The buyer was a Russian citizen.

A self-portrait by the actress went under the hammer for nearly €40,000, while the typewriter on which she wrote her autobiography sold for €4,600. Two of Bardot's guitars fetched €8,600 and €1,900, and three soft toys shaped like seal pups brought in nearly €2,200.

The proceeds from the auction will go to Bardot's animal protection foundation, as well as to her only son, Nicolas-Jacques Charrier.

Brigitte Bardot was born in Paris in 1934. She made her film debut in 1952 and appeared in more than 50 films over her acting career. Among her best-known pictures are "And God Created Woman," "The Truth," "A Very Private Affair" and "Viva Maria!" The film "The Truth" was nominated for an Academy Award in the foreign film category.

In 1973, Bardot ended her acting career. She then focused on animal protection and founded her own charity, which helps animals and advocates on their behalf.

Bardot died on December 28, 2025, at the age of 91. As the actress's husband, Bernard d'Ormale, reported, the cause of Bardot's death was cancer. The actress's funeral was held in the French city of Saint-Tropez.
