A recent brawl on an Almaty bus has led police to uncover a series of crimes. One of the participants in the conflict turned out to be involved in thefts, reports infohub.kz.
Earlier, footage of a violent fight appeared online, showing two men fighting, and then a third person intervening. After detaining all three, police checked their identities and found interesting details.
"This check led them to new criminal episodes involving one of the detainees. The 40-year-old man had a previous conviction for theft. Moreover, it turned out that just a few days before the fight, he may have committed another crime," police said.
According to the police department, the man is suspected of stealing a bicycle in the Zhetysu district. Investigators also established his possible involvement in a series of thefts at gas stations in Almaty.
"Surveillance cameras recorded the man entering gas station premises, looking around, then taking various items and fleeing. In one case, gas station employees tried to stop him. In response, the man pulled out a knife and threatened the workers," police added.
Currently, video recordings and other materials have been added to the main criminal case. The investigation will need to establish all the circumstances of each episode and check the detainee's involvement in other similar crimes.
