Chinese automaker BYD is set to unveil its flagship sedan, the Da Han, in the Chinese market. According to Carnewschina, pre-orders for the new model will begin on August 21 at the Chengdu Auto Show, where official prices will also be announced... reports the website infohub.kz.

The Da Han sedan boasts impressive dimensions: its length is 5,256 mm, and the wheelbase is 3,130 mm. That's 66 mm longer than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The expected price is around 300,000 yuan, equivalent to approximately 20.5 million tenge.

The model will be available with several powertrains. The base electric version with a single motor produces 496 horsepower, and the 102.3 kWh battery provides a range of up to 1,008 kilometers on the CLTC cycle. The all-wheel-drive variant is equipped with two electric motors with a combined output of 764 horsepower, offering a range of up to 880 kilometers.

In addition to the pure electric version, BYD will offer the Da Han DM with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It includes a 1.5-liter turbo engine producing 154 horsepower and an electric motor with 268 horsepower. The 54.5 kWh battery allows for up to 470 kilometers on electric power alone.

Among the model's features are rear-wheel steering and the DiPilot 5.0 driver assistance system with a roof-mounted lidar. One of the most notable characteristics of the Da Han is its fast-charging capability: the manufacturer claims the battery can be charged from 10 to 97 percent in just nine minutes.

Thus, BYD is preparing a large sedan with features that were once the prerogative of expensive premium models. On August 21, we will learn the key detail: how much it will cost in China.
