Excess weight in childhood can negatively affect reproductive function and lead to lower fertility in adulthood, according to a report by infohub.kz.

A new international study has found a link between childhood obesity and a reduced number of children later in life. Researchers analyzed long-term medical data to assess the long-term consequences of excess weight at an early age.

The results showed that people who were overweight as children are more likely to experience difficulties conceiving and have fewer children in adulthood. Experts attribute this to hormonal imbalances and metabolic disruptions that can persist for decades.

The study authors emphasize the importance of preventing obesity in children. Managing diet and physical activity during childhood not only helps avoid cardiovascular diseases but also preserves reproductive health in the long term.
