At least 159 people have died and 10 remain missing after severe flooding triggered by Typhoon Maysak in two cities in China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, according to the website infohub.kz.
The disaster, which hit Nanning and Guigang in the first ten days of July, caused numerous casualties and widespread destruction. According to data presented at work meetings on disaster relief, more than 1.65 million people have been affected.
Authorities in both cities are now focusing on restoring and rebuilding infrastructure, as well as strengthening disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief capabilities.
It is noted that Typhoon Maysak brought unprecedented heavy rainfall in terms of scale and duration, leading to a series of severe natural disasters in the region.
