Mathilde Favier, 57, who served as Dior's director of public relations for many years, tragically died in a car accident. Her partner, French film producer Nicolas Altmayer, 61, also lost his life in the crash. The tragedy occurred on Monday, and Dior officially announced it on Tuesday, August 18. Favier dedicated about 15 years of her career to Dior. She held the position of international PR director for women's collections and worked closely with stars who represented the brand, including Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman, Jisoo from Blackpink, and Anya Taylor-Joy.
Favier was a prominent figure in the fashion world, easily recognizable by her short haircut and vibrant personality. Before joining Dior, she worked at Chanel, Glamour, and Prada.
In 2024, Favier published a book, "La Belle Vie à Paris," sharing her favorite spots in the French capital, gastronomic preferences, and reflections on the beautiful life. She had over 240,000 followers on social media.
Favier is survived by her two children, daughter Eloise and son Carlo. Her 23-year-old son wrote on Instagram that his "heart is broken" and called his mother the embodiment of life and joy.
Following her death, colleagues and Dior's leadership expressed condolences to the family. Delphine Arnault, chair and CEO of Dior, called Favier not only an outstanding professional but also a loyal friend.
