After a sharp rise last week, when the dollar surged by 10 tenge to 476.07 tenge in a single day, it corrected downwards on Monday, falling by 3 tenge to 473.4 tenge, reports the website infohub.kz.
According to the portal Kurs.kz, at 3:30 PM local time, exchange offices in Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent set the following buying and selling rates for cash dollars: in Astana, buying at 470 tenge, selling at 477 tenge; in Almaty, buying from 470.9 to 473.6 tenge, selling from 474.4 to 477 tenge; in Shymkent, buying from 472 to 473 tenge, selling from 474 to 475 tenge.
The euro also fell by more than 2 tenge over the weekend. Its weighted average rate as of 3:30 PM today is 540.3 tenge. In Astana exchange offices, the euro is bought at 535 tenge and sold at 545 tenge; in Almaty, buying from 535.5 to 540 tenge, selling from 540 to 545 tenge; in Shymkent, buying from 535 to 538 tenge, selling from 540 to 545 tenge.
Notably, in June, demand for dollars at Kazakhstan's exchange offices nearly doubled, while the weighted average rate increased from 469.52 tenge in May to 487.85 tenge in June.
