Police in the Mangystau region have detained three men suspected of illegal drug possession. During a search of their vehicle, officers discovered marijuana and a large sum of money — over 2 million tenge, according to infohub.kz.
The operation was carried out by the Anti-Drug Crime Department of the Mangystau Regional Police Department in coordination with other units. A Mercedes-Benz E200 was stopped, which police said was used to transport narcotics.
"During the inspection of the vehicle, two polymer packages containing a green plant substance identified as marijuana were discovered and seized, along with cash in the amount of 2,035,000 tenge," the police department reported.
All three detainees are residents of the Mangystau region. Medical examinations showed they were under the influence of marijuana.
A court sentenced each to 20 days of administrative detention in a special facility. The Mercedes-Benz E200 was impounded and taken to a specialized parking lot. A pre-trial investigation into the drug discovery is ongoing.
