In the Zhetysu region, police detained a driver who attempted to flee the scene after an accident. The incident occurred at night on the Almaty – Oskemen highway, reports infohub.kz.
Around 3 a.m., a report of a traffic accident on the Almaty – Oskemen road was received on channel 112. Witnesses said one of the participants was trying to escape. Police immediately organized a pursuit.
The Nissan Cefiro was stopped as the driver tried to head towards the city of Konayev. Behind the wheel was a 25-year-old resident of the Eskeldi district. Preliminary data suggests the man had been drinking before driving. Failing to maintain a safe distance, he collided with another Nissan Cefiro. A medical examination confirmed alcohol intoxication.
Police also found that the man had previously been stripped of his driver's license for seven years. Despite this, he again got behind the wheel while intoxicated.
The suspect has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility. An investigation is underway.
