Around 1:30 p.m. on August 24, a strong wind hit Almaty, bringing dust and fine particles into the city. Visibility also deteriorated in some areas, reports infohub.kz.

Earlier, Kazhydromet warned that on August 24, Almaty would see partly cloudy skies, with rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Wind speeds were forecast at 15–18 m/s. The air temperature was expected to be +18…+20°C at night and +28…+30°C during the day.
Meteorologists also reported deteriorating weather on August 25. The city is expected to see cloudy skies and rain, with winds strengthening to 15–20 m/s. Temperatures will drop to +16…+18°C at night and reach +24…+26°C during the day.
The bad weather also complicated traffic conditions. Traffic jams persist in the city, partly due to numerous roadworks. Obviously, taxi prices will rise severalfold.
