Two people were killed and eight others injured in a collision between a minibus and a truck in the Akmola region, reports infohub.kz.
The tragedy occurred at night on the Astana-Petropavlovsk highway, near the town of Akkol. A Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and a GAZ-53 collided. According to KTK TV channel, the deceased were a married couple from Germany. The 59-year-old man died at the scene, pinned by twisted metal in the front seat. His 52-year-old wife died in intensive care.
Among the passengers taken to the hospital was the couple's nine-year-old daughter. As Madina Smagulova, press secretary of the Akmola Region Health Department, said, six people were hospitalized in the trauma department with injuries, bruises, abrasions, and fractures of varying severity. Another woman was in extremely critical condition: she was placed on a ventilator and resuscitation was performed, but despite doctors' efforts, she could not be saved.
