On the morning of August 13, a fire broke out on Kokshetau Mountain in Burabay, which was quickly contained. The flames covered only 0.002 hectares of forest land and did not spread to the main forest area, reports infohub.kz.
The fire was detected at 07:30 in the Borovoye forestry area of the Burabay National Park. According to the press service of the Burabay National Park, the fire was recorded on Kokshetau Mountain, in block 10, plot 8, at an altitude of over 300 meters. The fire area on forested land was 0.002 hectares.
Park forces and resources were promptly dispatched to the scene. Ten employees of the Burabay National Park, a fire truck, and a small forest fire complex participated in extinguishing the fire. A helicopter from the Kazavialesookhrana state enterprise was also involved.
Thanks to coordinated efforts, the fire did not spread to the forest area. Currently, specialists are determining the cause of the fire.
The national park reminded that during the fire hazard period, even a small fire can pose a serious threat to the forest. Residents and guests of the park are urged to strictly comply with fire safety requirements and immediately report any signs of fire to park staff or call 112.
Earlier, it was reported that tourists were banned from climbing the famous Kokshetau and Bolektau mountains in Burabay.
