Firebombs were thrown at supercars outside a wedding venue in Birmingham, setting two alight and prompting guests to sprint out of the building. This was reported by infohub.kz.

The incident happened in the Sparkbrook area of Birmingham at around 8.30pm on Wednesday. Unknown individuals threw three incendiary devices towards the entrance of the Royal Shalimar venue and the cars parked outside. As a result, two supercars — reported to be a Lamborghini and a McLaren — were set alight.

Videos circulating online appear to show people running from the building, and CCTV footage shows three men dressed in black getting into a white Volkswagen Golf and driving off. The footage also shows the front of one of the vehicles on fire and a man kicking one of the incendiary devices away from the area.

A spokesperson for West Midlands fire service said: “A fire engine from Highgate station attended after two vehicles were deliberately set alight. One vehicle was made safe by firefighters. No one was trapped or injured.”

A statement from the Royal Shalimar said: “Our immediate priority was the safety of our guests, and we are grateful that no one was injured. Our staff responded quickly and the situation was dealt with promptly alongside the emergency services and police.”

It added: “Royal Shalimar has always been a place for families, celebrations and the wider Birmingham community, and we remain committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for our guests.”

Police said officers had spoken to witnesses and reviewed CCTV footage. They asked for anyone with information to contact them through their website or by calling 101.
