On August 24, five forest fires were registered in Kazakhstan, reports infohub.kz.
According to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the fires occurred in the Aktobe, Karaganda, West Kazakhstan and Kostanay regions, as well as on the territory of the Semey State Forest Nature Reserve.
The ministry notes that constant monitoring of forest areas is carried out both from the air and from the ground. When fire sources are detected, the necessary forces and means are immediately sent to the site. Currently, forestry workers and specialists of the Republican State Enterprise "Kazavialesoohrana" are working on the sites.
The main task of firefighting groups is to contain the fire, prevent its spread to neighboring territories and completely eliminate the fires. In addition, specialists are working to ensure safety in areas already affected by fire and to prevent re-ignition.
The ministry called on residents and vacationers to strictly comply with fire safety requirements: do not leave campfires unattended and make sure the fire is completely extinguished before leaving.
Earlier, Kursiv reported on 17-year-old Indonesian Rudiansyah, who, together with volunteers, extinguishes forest fires on the island of Borneo, going to work in a Superman costume. From January to July, fire destroyed more than 200 thousand hectares of land in Indonesia, and the drought associated with El Niño increased the risk of new fires and complicated their extinguishing.
